Flaky Chicken Cheesy Pratha

Chicken Cheese Paratha is a delicious and filling dish that combines the flavors of spicy chicken with gooey melted cheese, all wrapped in a crispy, flaky paratha. Here’s a recipe to make it:

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
  • Water as needed to knead the dough

For the Chicken Filling:

  • 200g boneless chicken, finely chopped or minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped

For Assembling:

  • 1 cup grated cheese (mozzarella or a mix of mozzarella and cheddar)
  • Butter or ghee for cooking the parathas

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and oil or ghee.
  2. Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a soft, pliable dough.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.

Step 2: Make the Chicken Filling

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and green chilies, and sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute.
  4. Add the chopped chicken and cook until it changes color.
  5. Stir in the red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook until the chicken is fully cooked and the spices are well combined.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and add chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and remove from heat. Allow the filling to cool.

Step 3: Assemble the Parathas

  1. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
  2. Roll out each ball into a small circle on a floured surface.
  3. Place a spoonful of chicken filling in the center and sprinkle with grated cheese.
  4. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pinching to seal, and then gently roll it out again into a round paratha.

Step 4: Cook the Parathas

  1. Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Place the paratha on the tawa and cook until bubbles appear on the surface.
  3. Flip the paratha, and apply butter or ghee on the cooked side. Flip again, applying butter on the other side as well.
  4. Cook until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove from the tawa and repeat with the remaining dough and filling.

Step 5: Serve

  • Serve the Chicken Cheese Parathas hot with raita, chutney, or any dip of your choice. Enjoy!
