Chicken Cheese Paratha is a delicious and filling dish that combines the flavors of spicy chicken with gooey melted cheese, all wrapped in a crispy, flaky paratha. Here’s a recipe to make it:
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
- Water as needed to knead the dough
For the Chicken Filling:
- 200g boneless chicken, finely chopped or minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
For Assembling:
- 1 cup grated cheese (mozzarella or a mix of mozzarella and cheddar)
- Butter or ghee for cooking the parathas
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and oil or ghee.
- Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a soft, pliable dough.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
Step 2: Make the Chicken Filling
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and green chilies, and sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute.
- Add the chopped chicken and cook until it changes color.
- Stir in the red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook until the chicken is fully cooked and the spices are well combined.
- Sprinkle garam masala and add chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and remove from heat. Allow the filling to cool.
Step 3: Assemble the Parathas
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
- Roll out each ball into a small circle on a floured surface.
- Place a spoonful of chicken filling in the center and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pinching to seal, and then gently roll it out again into a round paratha.
Step 4: Cook the Parathas
- Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat.
- Place the paratha on the tawa and cook until bubbles appear on the surface.
- Flip the paratha, and apply butter or ghee on the cooked side. Flip again, applying butter on the other side as well.
- Cook until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the tawa and repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
Step 5: Serve
- Serve the Chicken Cheese Parathas hot with raita, chutney, or any dip of your choice. Enjoy!
