Classic Guacamole Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Avocados:
  • Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  • Mash the avocado with a fork or potato masher until it reaches your desired consistency (smooth or chunky).
  1. Add Lime Juice and Seasonings:
  • Add the lime juice to the mashed avocado to prevent browning and to add a fresh tangy flavor.
  • Stir in the salt, cumin, and cayenne pepper, if using. These spices are optional but add a nice depth of flavor.
  1. Mix in the Vegetables:
  • Add the diced onion, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic to the avocado mixture.
  • Stir until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  1. Season and Adjust:
  • Taste the guacamole and add freshly ground black pepper, additional salt, or lime juice as needed.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve the guacamole immediately with tortilla chips, or use it as a topping for tacos, burritos, or any of your favorite dishes.

Tips:

  • Customizations: Feel free to customize your guacamole with additional ingredients like chopped jalapeños for heat, diced red bell pepper for sweetness, or a drizzle of olive oil for richness.
  • Storage: To store guacamole, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to minimize browning and refrigerate. Best consumed within 1-2 days.

Enjoy your fresh and flavorful guacamole!
