Here’s a recipe for a delicious and healthy cauliflower pizza crust:
Cauliflower Pizza Crust Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 medium head of cauliflower (about 4 cups riced)
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet or pizza stone with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Cauliflower:
- Remove the leaves and stem from the cauliflower. Chop it into florets.
- In a food processor, pulse the cauliflower until it resembles rice. You should get about 4 cups of cauliflower rice.
- Cook the Cauliflower:
- Transfer the cauliflower rice to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for about 4-5 minutes, until softened.
- Let it cool slightly, then place the cauliflower in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out as much moisture as possible. The more moisture you remove, the crispier your crust will be.
- Mix the Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, combine the cauliflower rice, egg, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the Crust:
- Place the cauliflower mixture onto the prepared baking sheet or pizza stone. Using your hands, press it into a flat, even circle or rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Bake the Crust:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and firm.
- Add Toppings:
- Remove the crust from the oven and add your desired pizza toppings (sauce, cheese, vegetables, meats, etc.).
- Final Bake:
- Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Let the pizza cool for a couple of minutes before slicing. Enjoy your homemade cauliflower pizza!
Tips:
- For an extra crispy crust, after the initial bake, you can flip the crust over and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes before adding the toppings.
- If you don’t have a food processor, you can grate the cauliflower using a box grater.
This cauliflower pizza crust is a great low-carb alternative to traditional pizza crust and can be topped with your favorite pizza toppings!
