Ingredients:

For the Cake:
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
For the Frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

For the Cake:
  1. Prepare the Pans and Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  1. Mix Wet Ingredients:
  • Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed until well combined.
  1. Add Boiling Water:
  • Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay.
  1. Bake:
