Homemade Kheer Mix Recipe

Here’s the recipe of delicious kheer mix dessert:

Ingredients:

  • Dry Ingredients:
  • 1 cup rice (preferably basmati), washed and dried
  • 1/2 cup powdered milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A pinch of saffron threads (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Rice:
  • Wash the rice thoroughly and let it dry completely.
  • Once dry, lightly roast the rice in a pan over low heat until it turns a light golden color and releases a nutty aroma. Let it cool and then grind it into a coarse powder.

  • Lightly roast the chopped nuts in a dry pan until they turn golden brown. Let them cool.

Making Kheer from the Mix

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup kheer mix
  • 1 liter (4 cups) milk
  • 1 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter) (optional)
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Boil the Milk:
  • In a large pot, bring the milk to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
  1. Add the Kheer Mix:
  • Once the milk starts boiling, add the prepared kheer mix and stir well to combine.
  1. Cook the Kheer:
  • Reduce the heat to low and let the kheer simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally until the rice is fully cooked and the kheer reaches your desired consistency. If using ghee and raisins, add them halfway through the cooking process.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove from heat and let the kheer cool slightly.
  • Serve warm or chilled, garnished with additional chopped nuts or saffron threads if desired.
